Manulla go top in Mayo Women's Premier League

MANULLA put some daylight between themselves and Swinford in the Mayo Women's Premier League, with a 1-0 win on Friday evening.

They nudged three points clear of the east Mayo side to sit top of the table on 15 points courtesy of a Tracey Hall goal after 20 minutes.

Conn Rangers and Straide & Foxford had a great battle in their derby clash in Mount Falcon, where it ended 4-4, Conn sitting ahead of their neighbours on the table with 10 points.

S&F were sailing having struck the net four times in 34 minutes, including a hat-trick from Fiona Doherty. But Conn weren't prepared to fold and after Mary McHale pulled one back before the break, they opened the second half with a Cliodhna Flynn goal after two minutes. A third goal followed in the 55th minute before Flynn secured a point from the tie just before full-time.

The third Premier League fixture featured Kiltimagh Knock United and Castlebar Town where KK competed very well at their home grounds but ultimately came up short.

Louise Dowling headed home from a corner in the first half, and after a defensive lapse in the second, unmarked Emma Lavelle was on hand to hit the roof of the net to seal a 2-0 win.

In Division One, Claremorris kept their winning streak going when seeing off the challenge of Killala, 3-1, to sit top of the table. Goal scorers for the winners were Laura Burke, Alyssa Murphy and Hannah Cleary. Sarah Costello scored the sole Killala reply.

Kilmore notched up their second win in a row as 2-0 winners over Ballina Town. Roisin Greene scored from the penalty spot on 11 minutes with the second goal arriving on 73 minutes via Louise Maloney to make sure of full points.

The league now takes a break for Leaving Cert exams until June 28, when it resumes with cup action, with the exception of some outstanding fixtures.
