'Tweak' suggested at exit to help address concerns at central Mayo junction

TRANSPORT Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has been asked to tweak the Ardboley road exit outside Balla and reduce the speed limit at the location.

Councillor Cyril Burke, in a notice of motion, suggested that in an effort to resolve dangers at the junction, the exit from Ardboley would be moved to the west, away from the corner.

He also wants the council to impress on TII the need to lower the speed limit as part of active travel plans for the area.

There shouldn't be such opposition to this from TII, said Councillor Burke. All people care about locally is safety, and there are huge speeds at this junction.

On the junction itself, he felt it could be moved closer to the town, making it more visible.

He felt there is scope for this and he asked that it be looked at.
