Extra bite added to Mayo election candidate's campaign

A MAYO election candidate has had some extra bite added to their campaign, albeit not of the welcome variety.

Westport Fine Gael Councillor Peter Flynn was bitten by a dog while out canvassing this week.

He appeared none the worse for it when sharing the experience on his social media on what was a day of woes for Flynn, as he also had to deal with two bicycle punctures.

Other than that he reported having 'a lovely day' meeting people in the areas around Derrygorman, Dooncastle, Sheeaune, Derrada, Clogher and in between, receiving a warm welcome along the way.

His Fine Gael colleague Michael Ring, then a minister, suffered a similar fate back in 2016 when bitten by a terrier while out on the canvass in north Mayo.
