Tribute to founder of Mayo art signage company on his passing

The death of Robert Gibbons, Chesnut Grove, Castlebar, and formerly of Sale, Manchester, is greatly mourned in the community.

The deceased was the founder of Smart Art Signs, Castlebar, over 40 years ago.

"Throughout that time Rob worked hard to build up the business to what it is now and has quite literally left his mark on Castlebar and around County Mayo and beyond, in the form of shopfronts, vehicles and businesses everywhere," a tribute by the company stated.

It continued: "We've received so many touching tributes in the last couple of days and it is great to know that Rob helped so many people and businesses in the community, and was so well thought of for his creativity, hard work and humour.

"Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann - we won't see the likes of him again."

Predeceased by his wife Carmel (née Kenny), he is sadly missed by his loving son Andrew, brothers Kevin and Michael, sister Maureen, daughter-in-law Pamela, granddaughter Alison, his partner Liz, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

His remains will be reposing at The Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar, tomorrow (Thursday) from 5:30 until 7 p.m..

Removal takes place on Friday to Shannon Crematorium for committal service at 12 noon.
