Palestinian Ambassador will be guest at Mayo Diaspora Awards

THE Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland will be visiting Castlebar in September.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Jilan Abdalmajid will be a guest at the Mayo Diaspora Awards on September 14.

Dr. Abdalmajid was invited to attend the awards by organisers the Mayo Emigrant Liasion Committee.

The committee recently donated €700 to Médecins Sans Frontières, who are providing vital medical humanitarian care in Gaza.

The funds were raised in a raffle for a painting donated by Aisling Neary, Castlebar.

MSF teams are working around the clock in five hospitals and a primary healthcare facility in Gaza, under constant threat of attack, responding to overwhelming influxes of patients with traumatic injuries as a result of the war.

The Mayo Diaspora Awards will take place in the Ellison Hotel in Castlebar.

Dr. Abdalmajid has a long career in the Palestinian diplomatic service. She came to Ireland seven years ago as deputy to the former Ambassador and presented her credentials as Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ireland to President Higgins in January 2020.
