FIRST boxes in the Mayo local election count will be opened at 9 a.m. this morning at the count centre in the TF Royal Hotel in Castlebar.

After the council and European ballot papers are separated, the Castlebar Electoral Area count will get underway.

The Claremorris Electoral Area is next up on the running order to commence.

We'll have updates here on our website from the tallies this morning and official counts later in the day and over the weekend as they happen from each electoral area, with updates on Facebook and X also.
