Traffic study will include two locations of concern in Mayo county town

TRAFFIC studies proposed in Castlebar will look at two key locations of concern - Gallows Hill and Market Square.

It was previously agreed that after a period of at least one year following the opening of the new N5, a traffic study would be carried out in Castlebar.

Council management are currently scoping out requirements for a study, that will include an examination of Gallows Hill and Market Square, areas of concern raised by local councillors.

In a report, municipal district management said that together with survey works previously carried out under the Castlebar Local Transport Plan, this data will help inform potential solutions to help alleviate traffic issues around the town.
