ePower has completed the installation of fast chargers for electric vehicles at five Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) stations around the country.

The partnership came about through a tender process and the chargers are now operational at Dundalk (Clarke), Tralee (Casement), Westport, Sallins & Naas, and Bray (Daly) stations.

ePower is a market leader in the provision of renewable energy solutions, electric vehicle chargers and solar panels, and has bases in Dublin and Cork. Having supplied and commissioned the chargers, ePower will continue to maintain and manage the equipment, including through the provision of 24/7 support services.

Co-founder and director of ePower, Hugh Hall, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Iarnród Éireann on this project. This equipment will cater to the widest possible group of EV drivers as they will be suitable for the older-style of CHAdeMO chargers, as well as the newer CCS formats.

“Having chargers at its stations illustrates Iarnród Éireann's commitment to facilitating the growing community of EV drivers, and we’re also proud to be helping promote more environmentally friendly transport options for the public as well as our own customers.”

Energy manager with Iarnród Éireann, Shane McManus, is happy to have the chargers onsite. He said: “I have found ePower to be a professional and efficient company in the delivery of an EV charger project to Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail for multiple 150kW chargers. The company have an in-depth knowledge of the commercial EV charger space, and responses to information requests have been prompt and detailed.”

The partnership with Iarnród Éireann is the latest in a series of exciting opportunities for ePower. In the past 18 months, the company has announced the installation of its EV chargers in locations belonging to the Defence Forces, Environmental Protection Agency, renewable energy firm Ørsted and 13 hotels operated by Windward Management. It also opened its Dublin base in Ballymount in response to growing demand for EV charging and solar solutions.
