Mayo draw Derry in All-Ireland preliminary quarterfinal

Mayo were handed arguably the toughest draw possible for next weekend's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship preliminary quarterfinal.

Having been just seconds away from beating Dublin yesterday and going straight into the quarterfinals, Mayo must now prepare for the visit of league champions Derry to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park next Saturday or Sunday.

Mickey Harte's charges have had a disappointing championship but qualified for the preliminary quarterfinals with victory over Westmeath on Saturday, and there is undoubted quality among their ranks.

Elsewhere in the preliminary quarterfinals, Louth will host Cork, Roscommon must travel to Tyrone, and Galway will welcome Monaghan to the west.

The draw was conduction on the Morning Ireland show on RTÉ Radio this morning (Monday). Dates, times and venues for the games will be decided by the CCCC later today, but all four preliminary quarterfinals will take place next weekend.
