€51,500 allocated for two new Mayo Community Services Programme positions

DEPUTY Michael Michael Ring has confirmed that funding has been allocated to County Mayo to create two additional positions under the Community Services Programme.

The programme supports community-based organisations to provide local social, economic and environmental services through a social enterprise model.

It aims to tackle disadvantage by providing a co-funding contribution towards the cost of employing a manager and full-time equivalent (FTE) positions.

Said Deputy Ring: “The successful organisations in Mayo are Inishturk Community Club Company and Comhlacht Forbartha Áitiuíl Acla Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Ráthaíochta.

“They have both been approved one full-time equivalent position.”

He continued: “There was a call for additional funding requests to existing Community Services Programme services in September 2023. A total of 32 organisations across Ireland are set to benefit from the investment, which will see approximately €1 million in additional funding allocated to the programme.

"These posts will extend the capacity of the Community Services Programme organisations to deliver vital services in our communities. They provide local employment and help to sustain our communities.”
