FOXFORD will host Argentina Day celebrations in the town on Saturday, June 22.

The Admiral Brown Society, Mayo County Council and Argentine Embassy are looking forward to welcoming the Argentine community living in Ireland and the people of Foxford and further afield to their 247th commemorations of the birth of Admiral William Brown.

Argentinian Ambassador HE Ana Cachaza and HE Papal Nuncio Luis Mariana Montemayor will be attending.

The Papal Nuncio will celebrate Mass at 12 noon. Afterwards there will be a wreath-laying ceremony on Chapel Road, a walk to the Admiral Brown Promenade and a reception.

The children of Foxford NS, with their teachers Ms. Gordon and art director Bernadette Ruddy, have created a beautiful art work of The Libertad which will be unveiled on the day.

Argentinian singer Antonella and musicians will also join in the celebrations where the Foxford Brass & Reed Band will lead the ceremonies. Local musicians and dancers from the Admiral Brown Comhaltas will also be in attendance.

The local Rural Social Scheme and Foxford Town Enhancement Scheme have been busy working painting, strimming and cleaning the town for the occasion.

The organising committee has thanked them for their support and also welcome the support of Councillor Neil Cruise, O'Hara's Bakery, The Moy Hotel, Mayo Education & Support Centre (The Art Blast Programme) and Foxford NS.

Foxford will be a sea of blue and white and all are invited along to join the celebrations.
