Kathleen Conneely memorial walk on Clare Island in support of Mayo Roscommon Hospice

THE Kathleen Conneely memorial charity walk on Clare Island will take place on Saturday, June 22. This year’s benefiting charity is once again Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

This annual charity walk has raised in excess of €200,000 for local and national charities since its inception and it is always a very enjoyable event.

Participants have a choice of routes, none of which is more than 10km ... you may walk as much or as little as you wish; bicycles can also be brought across on the ferry or hired on the island to help you explore more of the fabulous land and seascapes of the island.

Entry is by making a donation of €50 per person or by raising a minimum €50 per person in sponsorship for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation via sponsorship card or online. This includes free bus transfer from Castlebar or Westport if required and free ferry crossing.

The assembly point on Saturday, June 22, is at Roonagh Pier at 10.15 a.m. for the 10.45 a.m. ferry (O’Grady’s Clare Island Ferry Company). Return ferries will leave the island at 4.45 and 6 p.m. (crossing takes approximately 20 minutes). See the Clare Island website for detailed information about the island (www.clareisland.ie).

It is essential to notify the organisers of your intention to participate in the walk in advance. For full details, please contact Pat Conneely (087 2931960) or Joe Brett (087 2338570) or email kathleenconneelywalks@gmail.com.
