Oral History Network Ireland holding Mayo meet up

THE Oral History Network of Ireland (OHNI) is hosting a free regional meet up at the National Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, to bring together oral historians, history enthusiasts, and any interested members of the local community, both OHNI members and non-members.

The meet up will be an opportunity for history and heritage enthusiasts to network in their local area and hear more about the oral history projects near them.

The network would also love to hear from them about how OHNI can promote and support oral histories across Ireland, whether they’re already working in oral history or interested in getting started on a project, and so a portion of the event will include a feedback session.

One attendee from the event will also be entered into a free raffle to win their choice of an OPW heritage card, OHNI online training workshop, or a year’s membership to OHNI. The sessions will also include an opportunity to hear clips from oral history projects local to each meet up.

Registration is now open via the OHNI website, and attendance is free for all.

OHNI would like to thank the Heritage Council for its generous support of these events.
