Circumstances of Mayo mountain rescue outlined

A woman has been rescued from Croagh Patrick after becoming unwell on the mountain.

Members of Mayo Mountain Rescue Team were called out yesterday evening to assist her.

A member of the team explained: "Our first responders located the woman and provided emergency care until the stretcher party arrived.

"They stretchered her to a waiting HSE ambulance in Murrisk for transport to Mayo University Hospital.

"The team was stood down at 8 p.m.

"Thank you to Coast Guard Rescue 118 for backup support."
