Mayo community in mourning over death of popular personality

The death of Edel Mitchell (née O'Boyle), Cabinteely, Dublin 18, and formerly of Drumkeen, Claremorris, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the south Mayo community.

She died last Sunday at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin.

A daughter of the late Jimmy and Kathleen O'Boyle, she is survived by her husband Steven, sisters Breda, Elaine, Cathriona and Gillian, brothers Declan, Conor and James, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

She is also deeply missed by her brothers-in-law Charlie, Paul, Art, Ger and Conor, sisters-in-law Janet and Maeve, mother-in-law Mary, father-in-law, Joe and his wife Mary, nephews Harry, Lucas, Arthur and Max, nieces Esmé, Kate, Safia, Ada, Anna and a wide circle of friends, neighbours and her colleagues at APC/VLE.

Many warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.

One stated: "Edel was always so dynamic, daring, funny, kind and so full of life. That's how she will be remembered."

Another said:"Her untimely passing is deeply devastating - but her beautiful spirit will live on in the cherished memories we carry in our hearts and minds."

A further tribute observed: 'I have fond memories of working with Edel, who was a beautiful, caring lady."

Remains will arrive to St Colman’s Church Claremorris at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) for Requiem Mass at 2 p.m. with burial afterwards in St. Colman’s Cemetery, Claremorris.
