Tributes to much-loved Castlebar woman on her passing

The death has occurred of Gertie Quinn, Snugboro, Castlebar.

She died peacefully at Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home, Castlebar, in her 94th year.

She will be sadly missed by her brother Patrick, her nephew Martin, her cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Gertie was predeceased by her parents Martin and Annie Quinn (née Gannon), her brothers John, Michael and Christopher, her sisters Margaret and Teresa and her bother-in-law Fionan Walshe.

Gertie was a staff member in Western Hats, Newport Road, Castlebar, and spent many of those happy years working in the factory shop.

She had a great love of animals all her life and in particular horses and dogs.

She always enjoyed attending horse and dog shows throughout her long life.

Many tributes have been paid to her on social media where she was described as 'a lovely lady.'

Requiem Mass takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, today (Monday) at 3 p.m.

Afterwards, Gertie will be laid to rest in the New Cemetery, Newport Road, Castlebar.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
