Tributes to much-loved Mayo woman Anne Brett on her passing

The death of Anne Brett (née Loftus), Pound Road, Castlebar, and late of Kilfian, Killala, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the community.

In her 86th year, she died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She is lovingly regretted by her heartbroken family: daughters Deirdre, Ann Marie, Patricia (Ryder) and Maeve (Hanley), son Noel, sons-in-law Gerry and Padraig, daughter-in-law Nichi, grandchildren Laura, Stephen, Tom, Megan and Michael, sister Eileen (Hoban), brother-in-law Tom, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, including her loyal friend and carer Roseline.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Jim, her parents Patrick and Mary Anne, sisters Patsy and Pauline, and her infant brother John.

Tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.

One stated: "She was such a lovely and gentle person, truly one in a million."

Another said: "A real lady and so gentle."

Removal from her residence takes place this afternoon (Wednesday) at 12.30 p.m for Requiem Mass at 1.30 p.m in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Anne will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
