Galway auction to sell estate of a lady of title

The July Online Auction (15, 16 and 17) to be held at Galway Auction Rooms in Kilcolgan is proving to be a mammoth sale.

Over 1,600 lots will be offered over three evenings in an online auction under Aidan Foley and his gavel.

A large consignment is the estate of the late Lady Trina Stanhope of Adare, Co. Limerick, an avid hardener and collector.

The sale will include a wide variety of silver, jewellery, art, glassware, Persian carpets, garden furniture, gardening tools and antique furniture.

Among the prize lots are a good collection of Persian carpets, Irish art by Maurice Wilks, John Kingerlee, Norman J. McCaig, Jack B. Yeats and Paddy Copperwhite.

In the current environmentally conscious world, antique and vintage furniture is a very sustainable option.

It is re-usable, a much better alternative than most modern furniture and will endure in most circumstances.

A good Victorian chest of drawers that is 150 years old and currently selling for €150/250 is surely good value.

This is also the case with dining tables, sideboards and bookcases.

An interesting selection of Silver and Jewellery will be included.

There are good diamond, sapphire and ruby rings along with a nice pair of London Silver Waiters dated 1771.

Viewing in Kilcolgan will be Saturday July, 13 and Sunday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The online auction will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 15 to 17 from 5 p.m.
