Construction starts on north Mayo playground

BALLINA Councillor Mark Duffy has welcomed the commencement of construction of the Killala Road playground, which has began in recent weeks.

The development, when completed, will be a much needed addition for the area that has a large number of families and has been underserved by amenity space.

Councillor Duffy said he is 'delighted' to see that work has commenced on the playground on the Killala Road.

He commented: “This has been a project that I have been advocating for, and will be a great addition to the area which is the only neighbourhood in the town without a playground area.”

The site is located next to Leigue Cemetery and has great potential for the development of additional amenities in the future.

“My thanks to the council team and contractor in their efforts in developing the project,” he added.
