Memorial unveiling for late Mayo Private Billy Kedian

A NEW memorial to the late Mayo Private Billy Kedian will be unveiled this weekend.

The Ballyhaunis native died on peacekeeping duties in Lebanon in May 1999 having saved the lives of 14 colleagues after they came under fire.

The unveiling of the memorial to Private Kedian will take place in his home area of Moneymore, Ballyhaunis, this Saturday, July 20, at 12 noon.

Son of the late Willie and Doris Kedian, Private Kedian lost his life while serving with the Irish Peace Keeping Forces in the Lebanon in 1999.

Friends came together in recent times, as Friends of Private Billy Kedian, to put in place this well deserved tribute to a local man who gave his life in the cause of justice and peace 25 years ago.

Information about the event, such as parking, for those wishing to attend, is shared on the Friends of Billy Kedian Facebook page.
