Tributes to Mayo council planner as he takes up new role

SENIOR planner Alan Di Lucia has been wished well as he leaves Mayo County Council to take up a new role.

He was thanked for his 'common sense approach' by elected representatives at a Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District meeting ahead of his departure from the local authority.

Cathaoirleach Councillor Damien Ryan led the tributes, noting his professionalism and engagement with councillors.

Mr. Di Lucia knew the planning laws inside out, noted Councillor Gerry Murray, who thanked him for always being accessible and bringing common sense to a job where he knew his brief.

Fair and helpful is how Councillor Patsy O'Brien summed up his contribution and whoever replaces him will have big shoes to fill.

Council management - MD head Padraic Flanagan and director of services Joanne Grehan - also paid tribute to a colleague who served the council for 25 years, noting he will be a massive loss.
