Balla Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme goes to tender

THE Balla Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme has gone to tender.

Welcoming the news, Councillor Donna Sheridan said it is hoped that a contractor will be appointed at the end of August and work will then commence.

Said Councillor Sheridan, cathaoirleach of the Castlebar Municipal District: “The work on the courthouse building is now completed and will open very soon. This is a fantastic addition to Balla.

"I am delighted to see that the Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme going to tender.

“I met with residents some time ago and it was agreed we need to do major work on this area.

“Many thanks to the residents committee in Woodlands, Balla CRD and Balla Tidy Towns for their help with this, and to David, Pat, Philip and all the team in the Castlebar MD for all their work on this project.

“The layout of the scheme was designed and changed based on two consultation meetings with local residents in Balla.

“It is hoped that a contractor will be appointed at the end of August and work will commence.”

Minister Heather Humphreys, under Town and Village Renewal Scheme, has provided funding of €120,000 toward these projects, with Balla CRD providing €4,000 and Castlebar Municipal District allocating €10,250.
