Extended walkway at Mayo Centre of Excellence officially opened

THE extended walkway project at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan has been officially opened by Minister of State Alan Dillon.

The project was funded through Clár and Mayo County Council and extends the current path around the perimeter of the centre from 1.6k to 2.2k, providing the community with a safe and scenic area to walk or run.

Said Minister Dillon: “I’m always amazed at what can be achieved in rural Ireland when we all work together and this project is testament to that.

“Thanks to all in Connacht GAA and Mayo County Council for their work on this, and a special word to my colleague Minister Heather Humphreys whose department provided funding of €40,000 for this project from the Clár programme in 2022.

“May it bring many years of pleasure and outdoor activity to locals and visitors alike.”
