New course record on Balla Golf Club captain's day

ON a Balla Golf Club captain's day when there were some outstanding scores, the spoils went to David Walsh with an unbelievable score of 100 over 36 holes, a course record.

Other prize-winners were: 2nd John Hyland 106, gross Martin Moylette 111, 3rd Peter Tonra 107, 4th Bernie O'Connor 109, 5th Aodán MacSuibhne 113, past captain Danny Lyons 115, 1st 18 Ronan Mahon 52, 2nd 18 Mark Killeen 53, cat. 2 Tom Jennings 116, cat. 3 Chris Mannion 125, NTP Richie Murphy, visitors prize Ian Walsh 55.

In the ladies section for the captain's day, the results were as follows: 1st Aisling Killeen 52, 2nd Mary Jo Cannon 55, gross Kay Foy 67 (B9), 3rd Nora Heraty 57, 4th Patricia Conwell 57, cat. 2 Breege Walsh 59, NTP Mary Conlon, beginners Martina Fitzgerald.

The presentation of prizes was held in the Helm in Westport, who are major sponsors of the club. A wonderful night with beautiful food, and music, and some wonderful displays of dance movements by members of the club.

Well done to captain John Walsh and his committee and the members for a wonderful weekend of golf and camaraderie.
