Passing of Joan Corcoran deeply mourned in Mayo county town

THE death of Joan Corcoran (née Deegan), Spencer Street, Castlebar, and formerly of Brideswell, Askamore, Co. Wexford, is being deeply mourned.

Joan was the epitome of a lady and was much loved and well known in the community, especially through her involvement as a member of Castlebar Tennis Club and Castlebar Golf Club for many years.

Many online tributes have been paid to her, recalling her great kindness and warm smile. People enjoyed being in her company and she will be sorely missed by the many people who called her friend.

Joan was predeceased by her parents James and Nancy Deegan and her sisters Catherine and Betty (Hynes).

She was beloved wife to heartbroken Darach for 51 years and is also sadly missed by her three children Alex, Suzanne (Keane) and John, daughter-in-law Louise, son-in-law Vincent, her adoring grandchildren Ross, Ella, Grace, Lillian, Noah and Tom, sisters Maura (Kavanagh) and Nancy (Leslie), brothers Shay, Mick and Pat, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is extended on their great loss.

Joan will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday from 5.30 p.m., with removal at 7 p.m. to her residence.

Removal from her residence on Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar. She will be laid to rest afterwards in Castlebar New Cemetery.
