Wild camping at a 'minimum' at popular Mayo beach

ISSUES with wild camping and fires at Keem Bay are at a minimum since the appointment of a beach ranger.

An upgrade of toilet facilities at the beach is due to be completed by the end of September, with the tender process just about finalised now.

Line marking has taken place in the carparking areas, which has encouraged better behaviour on that front, west Mayo municipal district councillors were told in a tourism update.

Councillor Paul McNamara welcomed the rangers' work, saying this and the parking alignment have made a difference.
