Rain warning for Mayo upgraded to Status Orange

THE rain warning in place for Mayo has been upgraded to Status Orange.

A Status Yellow warning came into effect at midday Sunday and is in place until midnight. A Status Orange warning then comes into effect for 10 hours.

Met Éireann has issued the Status Orange rain warning for three counties - Donegal, Galway and Mayo - with effect from midnight until 10 a.m. bank holiday Monday, when it reduces back to yellow.

There will be heavy and persistent rain with strong and gusty southerly winds, especially in exposed areas.

Flooding is expected along with very difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
