Beat the breeze at the 2024 Céide Coast Atlantic Run in north Mayo

The scenic Céide Coast Atlantic Run, hosted by Ballycastle Athletic Club, takes place this year on Saturday, September 21.

Starting at 12 noon, athletes will experience one of the most beautiful routes in Ireland, passing along the wild, rugged Céide Coast in north Mayo, encountering iconic landmarks such as the Céide Fields Visitor Centre, the breathtaking Céide cliffs, Ballycastle beach and Dún Briste (the Broken Fort) – the famous sea stack at Downpatrick Head.

The Céide Coast Atlantic Run route will commence at the spectacular Céide Fields Visitor Centre and will follow the coast road, passing Ballycastle beach before proceeding to the famous Downpatrick Head.

The race will enter the headland, where runners will get a chance to run 500m off road and an opportunity to view the spectacular Dún Briste sea stack (weather dependent).

From there, the race will return to the main road and finish in the idyllic village of Ballycastle, where a warm welcome and refreshments will await.

Each entrant will receive their own uniquely designed medal and souvenir tech top.

There is also an option to participate in a 10k run, which will similarly depart from the Céide Fields Visitor Centre and follow the coastal route back towards Ballycastle along the spectacular Céide Cliffs.
