Major coffee chain set to open its first outlet in Mayo

Café Nero is set to open in Castlebar in the coming months, significantly boosting the local economy.

Caffè Nero, a leading international coffeehouse brand, has finalised a lease agreement to occupy a portion of the former Carphone Warehouse site within the Connaught Telegraph building on Hopkins Road and Cavendish Lane.

The transformation of the former Connaught Telegraph offices into a state-of-the-art café is underway, with construction commencing this week.

Local auctioneer, Joe Moran expressed delight stating, “The new café is expected to become a popular destination for locals, tourists and shoppers, reflecting the growing interest of major retailers who continue to choose Castlebar as a location for trading.”

Once completed, the Caffè Nero outlet will offer seating for up to 44 customers and the store is anticipated to employ several staff.

Caffè Nero's decision to establish a branch in Castlebar is part of the brand's broader expansion strategy.

The Caffè Nero Group opened 63 new stores globally during the past year, bringing its total number of stores to 1,072 in 10 countries.
