Silverware for Killala and Manulla in Mayo Women's League divisional cup finals

KILLALA and Manulla both returned home with silverware in the Mayo Women's League divisional cup finals played at Umbro Park, Milebush, on Sunday.

Killala were presented with the Mary Walsh Cup after seeing off the challenge of Westport United comfortably in the end, 3-1 the final scoreline there.

It took extra time to separate Manulla and Straide & Foxford, with Manulla's winning goal late on seeing the Tommy Rumley Cup being presented to his home club for the second year on the trot.

Manulla... Rumley Cup winners for the second year in a row.

Westport drew first blood in the Mary Walsh Cup final courtesy of Sinead Hughes Loftus on 10 minutes, only to see the ever reliable Alva Munnelly tie it up again five minutes later. The same player nudged Killala ahead before half-time from the penalty spot.

On the hour mark, Ciara Murphy was on the end of a lovely ball across the box from Munnelly, who was to be named Player of the Match, to put Killala in control, as they ran out 3-1 winners.

The Rumley Cup final was a more even affair and, certainly, Straide & Foxford had chances to win it in normal time, finding some extra pep to their step at the second half of the game progressed.

Ultimately, Manulla have great experience of big match days and Sadhbh Larkin put the ball in the net on 107 minutes to keep Tommy Rumley's Cup in Manulla.
