Mayo Macra na Feirme awarded "Most Inspirational Club in Europe"

Castlebar Macra na Feirme is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious title of "Most Inspirational Club in Europe" by Rural Youth Europe, a leading organisation that fosters youth development and rural empowerment across the continent.

The award, which includes a guaranteed place for one of the club’s members at a Rural Youth Europe event in 2025, an award certificate, a feature on the popular Rural Voices Podcast, and promotion on Rural Youth Europe's social media channels, is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Castlebar Macra's committee and its members.

Castlebar Committee members for 2023/2024 were as follows: Club President - Shane Quigley, Club Chairperson - Daniel Conway, Club Secretary - Joanne Monlone, Public Relations Officer/ Social Media Creator - Catriona Bourke and Club Treasurer - Conor Walsh.

In their application for this award, Castlebar Macra highlighted several key achievements that have made a significant impact on both their members and the broader community. Over the past year, the club has organised a wide range of activities, from fun social events like darts competitions and karaoke nights to more impactful community initiatives such as joint fundraisers and local events. Their efforts have brought joy, fostered inclusivity, and strengthened the bonds within their community.

Castlebar Macra's influence extends beyond their immediate locality. The club proudly represented Mayo at various national events and competitions, including the Stock Judging in August 2023, the Northwest Kings and Queens in January 2024, and the Mr. Personality Festival in April 2024. The club's social media presence has been a driving force in promoting not only their own events but also those of other clubs in the region, further demonstrating their commitment to collaboration and community spirit. This dedication was recognized when Castlebar Macra was named Club of the County for 2023, marking the fifth time in six years that the club has received this honour.

"We are deeply honoured to receive the 'Most Inspirational Club in Europe' award," said Daniel Conway, Chairperson of Castlebar Macra. "This recognition reflects the passion, energy, and commitment of our members who have worked tirelessly to make a difference in our community and beyond.
