Concern over significant loss of 'vital' staff at Mayo University Hospital

An elected representative is awaiting a response from Mayo University Hospital over the loss of staff at the facility.

Councillor Harry Barrett said concern have been raised with him regarding the recent significant loss of healthcare assistants within the hospital, some of were agency staff.

He elaborated: "The role of healthcare assistants is absolutely vital to the smooth running of the hospital and, most importantly, to the care and wellbeing of patients.

"I have sought a breakdown of the current figures related to healthcare assistants in the hospital.

"Specifically, I’m interested in understanding how many have left in the last two months, their employment status, the reasons for their departure, and whether there are plans in place to replace them.

"Moreover, I wish to clarify whether this reduction in staff will have any impact on patient care.

"People place great trust in Mayo University Hospital and any concerns related to patient care are naturally a priority for everyone involved."

Councillor Barrett is awaiting a response.
