Mayo community gets green light for sports project

Planning granted for new all-weather facility in Shrule

Shrule Community Partnership has been granted planning permission to construct a state-of-the-art all-weather astro sports facility.

The ambitious project, which is set to transform the club's existing infrastructure, will feature a 61m x 41m astro turf pitch with high-quality floodlighting, ball netting, and secure perimeter fencing.

The new development, located adjacent to the local National School, will also include a 2-metre wide pedestrian walkway encircling the pitch, enhancing accessibility and safety for all users.

Additionally, a new car park with 47 spaces, including three designated for those with adapted requirements, will be constructed.

A designated drop-off area will also be provided to serve the school and sports facility, improving convenience for parents and guardians.

To manage stormwater effectively, the project will incorporate an advanced drainage system, including a Hydrochamber and interceptor for stormwater attenuation, ensuring the facility remains functional and safe in all weather conditions.
