Planning declaration sought on new church in east Mayo town

Engagement has been opened with Mayo County Council in respect of a new church and prayer room in Ballyhaunis.

A formal application has been lodged with the authority in respect of the community facility which is upstairs at an existing building on Clare Road in the town.

It is in the name of Allessandro Gomes Carvalho and it is seeking "use of the space as a prayer room and meeting as a church."

The approach is being made by way of a Section 5 Declaration as the development is already established.

This means a request is being made to the council for a ruling as to whether the development is exempt from planning or not.

A decision is due to be made on September 4
