Son of Mayo native captains Getafe 'B' amid speculation

The midfield starlet has paternal roots in Devlis, Ballyhaunis and captained Getafe B to a 2-0 win over Réal Avila in the Spanish fourth tier on Saturday afternoon.

John Joe Patrick Finn, who turns 21 next month scored in his only start for the Madrid-based club in last season’s Copa del Rey but has since found it difficult to break into the first-team.

Previously, he was linked with Leeds United, Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester United, but he has found senior minutes hard to come by at La Colosseum.

Committed to the Boys in Green, he is yet to make an appearance for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side. In 2021 he was named in Jim Crawford’s squad but pulled out at the last minute to focus on his exams.

Finn’s brother Brandon is also a footballer and both are eligible to play for Ireland, Spain and their mothers native Cameroon.
