Three Mayo players make 2024 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year

Three Mayo players have been named on the 2024 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year.

The selection, announced today, features Tom Hession of Eastern Gaels at corner-back and Crossmolina Deel Rovers pair Kobe McDonald and Oisín Deane at centre half-forward and full-forward respectively.

Mayo won the Connacht title this year but lost out to Armagh at the semi-final stage of the All-Ireland series. The Orchard County were beaten by Derry in the All-Ireland final.

Ulster's dominance is reflected in the Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year, with nine players from the province taking a spot on the team. That includes four from Armagh and five from Derry. The traditional football stronghold of Kerry has three players in the team, with the final three players from Mayo, as highlighted above.

Electric Ireland has also announced this year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year: Derry’s James Sargent. The midfielder and captain of his county was a standout player throughout this campaign, scoring a goal in the All-Ireland final as well as being awarded player of the match on the day.

With Sargent’s exceptional skill and talent highlighted in this year’s championship, it is no surprise that he also featured in last year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year and makes him a back-to-back minor champion.

The 2024 Electric Ireland Football Minor Star Team of the Year in full is as follows: Kacper Robak (Kerry and Dr. Crokes); Tom Hession (Mayo and Eastern Gaels), Ronan Canavan (Derry and Brian Ógs Steelstown), Conall Wilson (Armagh and St. Peter’s); Luke Grant (Derry and Greenlough), Ben Murphy (Kerry and Austin Stacks), Diarmaid O’Rourke (Armagh and St. Patricks Dromintee); James Sargent (Derry and Lavey), Dáithí O’Callaghan (Armagh and Carrickcruppen St. Patricks GAA); Eamon Young (Derry and Newbridge), Kobe McDonald (Mayo and Crossmolina Deel Rovers), Gearóid White (Kerry and John Mitchels); Eoin Duffy (Armagh and Culloville Blues GAC), Oisín Deane (Mayo and Crossmolina Deel Rovers), Dylan Rocks (Derry and Loup).
