An inside view of progress on major Mayo retail project on prime site

Here's an inside view of the works taking place at the site of the former Upper Crust/Lavelle's Bakery site at Main Street, Castlebar, where a major commercial development is under construction by local contractors, Mick Duane Limited

The steel works was produced and fabricated by Mayo company, Ryan Structural Steel Services, Westport, providers of a wide range of building steelwork.

Dermot Fadden, a prominent local businessman and owner of 6th Sense men's fashion company, is behind the ambitious revitalisation investment at the site.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year or in early 2025.

It includes ithe creation of cutting-edge retail spaces on the ground floor, along with office facilities to house the head offices of 6th Sense, in addition to residential accommodations.

A central feature of the development is the integration of a new retail link, further extending the current riverside and greenway walks in the town.
