Passing of Mayo man who starred in popular TV series, Hardy Bucks

Tributes are being paid across social media to Alan (Ali) Carter, Rath Cluain, Kiltimagh, whose death has taken place.

A native of Swinford, his remains will be reposing in his home in Rathcluain, Kiltimagh on Thursday from 3 until 7 pm.

Funeral Mass takes place in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford on Friday, at 12 noon prior to burial in Kilconduff Cemetery, Swinford.

Ali, who grew up at Market Street, Swinford, played a role for some years in the popular TV drama series, Hardy Bucks, which was filmed in his native town.

He is loved and missed by his partner Lorraine, daughter Aleisha, parents Geraldine and John, brothers Kevin and Gordon, sisters-in-law Aofie and Liona, and Caroline Carney, nephews Cormac and Jonah, aunts, uncles, cousins, work colleagues and many friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

He was predeceased by his grandparents and father-in-law Tommy.

In online tributes following his untimely death, Ali has been described as a warm, humorous individual who “will be greatly missed for his fun and smiles.”

Another said: “Ali was a lovely character and he had the most distinctive, hearty laugh."
