Band with Mayo connections fancied for Oasis support slot

PUNK-ROCK band Fontaines D.C., with two members from Mayo, are currently rated favourites with BoyleSports to land the main support slot for Oasis when they take their reunion tour to Ireland next summer.

Two dates at Croke Park were announced by the Gallagher brothers this week, with a hectic scramble for tickets expected when the Irish dates go on general sale at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Support acts are yet to be confirmed for the Ireland and UK tour, but Fontaines D.C. sit on top of the wish list for Irish fans as they tuck into fourth studio LP Romance, which has been widely praised as one of the albums of the year following its release last week.

Fontaines D.C. drummer Tom Coll hails from Crimlin, outside Castlebar, and Conor Deegan (bass guitar) is from Castlebar.
