Louisburgh rally to down Lahardane in Mayo intermediate clash

Louisburgh 2:12

Lahardane MacHales 0:13

Louisburgh secured a vital victory over newly promoted Lahardane MacHales in the second round of the intermediate club championship, thanks to a dominant second-half performance.

Eddie Ball’s early goal gave Louisburgh an ideal start, but Lahardane fought back, with Shane Finnerty leading the charge.

Despite conceding early, Lahardane went into the break leading 0-8 to 1-3, thanks to a series of well-taken frees by Finnerty.

The second half, however, saw a rejuvenated Louisburgh side take control.

Dylan Prendergast’s early point set the tone for a period of sustained pressure, with further scores from Mark Gibbons and Padraig O’Malley helping the hosts regain the lead.

Lahardane kept in touch through Finnerty and Kyran Jordan raising white flags, but Prendergast’s late goal proved decisive, putting the game beyond the visitors’ reach.
