Ronan Malee

East Mayo football club captain retires

KILTIMAGH Knock United A team captain Ronan Malee is hanging up his boots.

Malee played his final Super League game for KK on Saturday evening.

Captain for the past three seasons, the club has paid tribute to a player who was 'a great leader on and off the pitch, knowing exactly what needed to be said to rally the troops in tough moments'.

The tribute added: 'He was also a great organiser who took pressure off management by taking on many off field tasks.

'His trademark jinking run as he glided past two or three opponents was a common occurrence at games at CMS Park and other grounds around the county.

'He had a determination to fight for every ball and never stop running and always pushed his teammates on to raise their effort levels that few percent to tip the scales in our favour.

'Best of luck Ronnie with whatever it is that you do next. You will be missed.'
