East Mayo mourns death of Paddy Lynskey in his 100th year

THE death has occurred of one of the Swinford area's oldest residents, Paddy Lynskey, from Culmore.

Aged in his 100th year, Paddy passed peacefully at his home.

Paddy, along with his late brother Matt, was synonymous with the local cattle trade and Swinford Mart back in the years. Many a person took a trip to their neat holding in Culmore to buy calves, always quality stock and always good banter in making the bargain.

Paddy was such a gentleman, with time for a chat and the craic, and so welcoming to his tidy home, be you calling for a visit, to make a purchase or just passing by on the road.

He was a great character and the stories he had to tell, he told them well. His memory will be held in great affection by all who knew him, especially the younger generations of his family, who always enjoyed a visit to Uncle Paddy, and his neighbours.

Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Paddy will be sadly missed by his nephew, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, great-grand nephews, great-grand nieces, Anne, Declan, Alan, Mark, Keith, and Ciara, family circle, neighbours and friends.

Reposing is in Campbell's Funeral Home, Swinford, this evening (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford, at 3 p.m. prior to burial in Kilconduff Cemetery.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
