Mayo footballer makes senior debut with Sligo Rovers women

MAYO footballer Roise Burke made her senior debut for Sligo Rovers women in the League of Ireland Premier Division at the weekend.

Her first appearance for the women's team came against DLR Waves.

Roise played her football with Partry Athletic for a number of years before signing for Galway United last year and making a move to Sligo Rovers this season.

She was a member of the Mayo Schoolboys/Girls sides from 2019 to 2023, captaining the Gaynor Shield winning team in 2021 having been a member of the extended Gaynor Cup squad two years previously.

In 2022 she again featured in the Mayo team that won the Gaynor Plate, and the midfield maestro was also a Connaught inter-provincial player that year too.
