Major boost for community services across Mayo
Mayo Minister of State Dara Calleary has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Rural and Community Development that 12 Mayo based Meals On Wheels, Community First Responder and Cancer Care Support Services for new vehicles.
He stated: “I am delighted to have received the great news from Minister Humpheys that a number of Mayo organisations doing tremendous work within the community have been successful in applications for Mobility Assistance under the CLÁR Programme of funding.
"I am especially delighted for Ballina Lions Club who have been awarded €79,600 for the purchase of a 17-seater mini-bus adapted with wheelchair lift; and for Knockmore Rathduff Recreation and Resource Centre who have been allocated €32,224 for a new Meals on Wheels delivery van.
"Western Care Association Cluainin Day Service in Crossmolina who will be allocated €52,200 for the purchase of a new vehicle to provide essential transport services and to all the successful organisations such as Order Of Malta Ambulance Corp., Westport, which can now purchase of a CEN compliant Ambulance for €72,000."

Ballycroy Social Services Meals On Wheels delivery vehicle €20,400.
Brickens Logboy Tulrahan Housing Association Meals On Wheels delivery vehicle €14,000.
Enable Ireland Vehicle for Mobility Transport €69,649.
Mulranny Day Care Centre Vehicle for Mobility Transport €44,000.
Western Care Association – Home Support Services Vehicle for Mobility Transport €52,200.
Western Care Association Croi Oscailte Residential & Respite Services, 9 seater Lowered floor wheelchair accessible €55,239.
Seirbhisi Curam Chill Chomáin Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Rathaíochta Insulated food delivery vehicle €22,912.
Castlebar Social Services CLG, 17 seater mini bus with wheelchair accessibility €63,040.
“This is very significant investment in community services in Mayo I am delighted to have been able to fully support and advocate for these services and wish them all continued success for the future.
"We are all acutely aware of the wonderful work they do within their communities and this funding will allow them to continue and grow that service. I am delighted to them.” he added.
The news has also been welcomed by Minister of State Alan Dillon and Deputy Michael Ring.
