Palestinian Ambassador to present Mayo awards

The Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, Dr. Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, is the guest of honour at tomorrow's 25th Mayo Diaspora Awards ceremony hosted by the Mayo Emigant Liaison Committee at the Ellison Hotel, Castlebar.

Her visit comes just months after Ireland's formal recognition of the state of Palestine.

The event will see seven recipients being honoured for their work on behalf of emigrant communities, both locally, nationally and internationally.

Former Mayo GAA star Andy Moran will also make a guest appearance at the event.
