Mitchels find winning form at right time to advance in Mayo SFC series

Castlebar Mitchels finally found winning form at the right time to advance to the quarterfinals of the Mayo senior football championship.

Goals early and late by Ciaran Mylett and Paddy Heneghan proved crucial in steering the county town club to victory over Ballyhaunis by 2-9 to 1-8 at Hollymount.

Ballyhaunis had been leading by a point a quarter of an hour into the second half before Heneghan's goal turned the game in favour of Barry Moran's charges.

They never looked back after that with three points by Ethan Gibbons (two) and Sean Morahan ensuring their passage from Group 4 along with Garrymore, narrow winners over Charlestown Sarsfields.

Ballintubber's win over Kilmeena booked their place in the last eight at the expense of Aghamore on points difference, the east Mayo side having lost by seven points to table-toppers Breaffy in Group One.
