Castlebar Celtic win Under 19 Mayo Women's League title

CASTLEBAR Celtic has another reason to celebrate in its centenary year after winning the Under 19 Women's League title this Sunday.

A win in Swinford would secure the title, but it was to Michael Devaney's charges that Celtic suffered their only loss this season at this grade.

This time, however, it was Castlebar who were to take all three points in a game that finished 3-2.

After Celtic scored an early opener, Swinford responded to lead 2-1. But this Castlebar side know where the goals are - the league table shows 46 goals so far this campaign - and they popped in two to secure victory.

This Castlebar team has made a big impact this year, returning to the women's league after an absence of a number of years.

The squad featured many of the Under 17 team who won the Premier Division at that age group also this season.

Mayo Women's League secretary Joe King was on hand to present the cup.
