Traffic issues in Balla - short and long term - raised

TRAFFIC management issues in Balla - short-term and long-term - have been highlighted.

There have been hold-ups in the town due to road works this week, which were raised at a municipal meeting yesterday (Wednesday).

'Mayhem' is how Councillor Donna Sheridan summed up the situation on Tuesday, with people waiting 15 to 20 minutes and seeing no movement.

On the general situation, since schools returned this month, morning traffic in the town has been bad, even before the road works began, said Councillor Sheridan, with tailbacks at the turn-offs for the schools.

You had to see it to believe how bad it is, she added.

Councillor Sheridan asked that TII would look at a traffic management system to try and keep traffic moving.

Councillor Sheridan was told the road works are due to be completed by Tuesday next.

Traffic management will be discussed with the roads office and contractor.
