Sensational Kids celebrate five years of supporting children in Mayo
Sensational Kids Child Development Centre in Claremorris is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month.
Since opening its doors in September 2019, the centre has supported 831 children in the region, providing essential therapeutic services to help them reach their full potential.
Today, 1 in 4 children in Ireland has a special educational need, amounting to approximately 420,000 children who require additional support, adaptations, or accommodations.
Children who are autistic, dyslexic, dyspraxic, or have Down syndrome, ADHD, sensory processing differences, or developmental delays often benefit from early intervention and targeted support. Sensational Kids is dedicated to identifying developmental differences at a young age, giving children the opportunity to thrive in all areas of life.
As an award-winning social enterprise, nationally Sensational Kids has already transformed the lives of over 10,000 children, saving their families more than €3 million in therapy fees. The centre provides vital, front-line therapeutic supports, ensuring that children can access services when and where they need them.
With over 80,000 children on waiting lists for speech therapy and occupational therapy in Ireland, Sensational Kids’ services are a lifeline for families. Without these supports, many children would face three- to four-year year waiting times, losing critical opportunities for timely intervention and better outcomes.

Sensational Kids funds its therapy services through a combination of fundraising, income from its child development & learning store, and training workshops. These efforts ensure that families receive high-quality, practical, and affordable services.
