Today's Mayo death and funeral notices

The following are today's Mayo death and funeral notices.

AVRIL WHITEHEAD, BOFEENAUN

The death has occurred of Avril Whitehead (née Teale), Pullamarla, Bofeenaun.

She died peacefully at Mayo University Hospital.

Avril was beloved wife of Ken, mother to Gerard and Mark, grandmother to Alexander, Thomas and Annabel.

Avril was born in Hazelwood Castle, Yorkshire, in 1944 to Josephine and George Teale, Avril's mother's maiden name being Leonard, who was from Ballina.

Avril spent her earlier years living in Ballina with her grandparents on Pearse Street, going to school in Ballina and then onto the Ursuline Convent in Sligo.

Avril was a reserved person who came alive in the company of her family, friends and neighbours.

Avril always regarded the west of Ireland as her true home, especially Ballina and the area around the town, having fond memories of the Ballina people she grew up with.

Her grandparents were from the townlands of Coolturk and Carrowgarve to the west of Crossmolina and she spent many times visiting relatives in those areas and in Keenagh.

Avril's warmth and loyalty will be sadly missed.

Deeply mourned by her loving husband, sons, daughters-in-law Gill and Jo, grandchildren, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
